Fair Bunny Pricing
Hello.
I am new to the Bunny Business and I have read in different groups that most people want to keep the market level and fair. I was just wondering if there was a list of different breeds of bunnies and how much they usually go for on average? Thanks! |

RE: Fair Bunny Pricing
**Newer Furs & Eyes will not be added to the list until pricing levels out on them somewhat**
Base Price: Classic $150 Dusky $600 Aphotic $600 Silky $800 Radiant: $800 (((((((((((Bunny Dips: $150)))))))))) **** PLUS **** UnCommon Base Price: Mini Rex Lynx $1500 Mini Rex Black Otter $1500 Mini Rex Chocolate $800 Harlequin Fawn Magpie $1000 Harlequin Black Magpie $1000 Harlequin Black Orange $500 Holland Lop Opal $1500 Holland Lop Fawn $1500 Holland Lop Fawn White $2000 Holland Lop White $3000 Holland Lop Chocolates $800 English Spot Opal $1500 English Spot Lilac $2000 Havana Black $800 Chinchilla $2000 **** PLUS **** Only 4 stones considered to be Precious Gems are Diamond $800 Sapphire $800 When and if they are released Ruby & Emerald will be considered Precious Gems. All other Semi-precious gems should be priced with a base of $600 **** PLUS **** Lop Ears Add $800 to Base If it is an extremely uncommon "higher priced" bunny you should add $1000 for a lop. ****************************************************************************** Base prices are stackable for example: Mini Rex Black Otter/Alexandrite/Lop/Dusky would be: $1500L +$600L +800L +600 = $3500L This is not an official Ozimals price guide and the prices are merely suggestions...if you feel that the numbers may be slightly off based upon your sales experience...by all means insert your cost into the suggested price. But we feel the stackable format makes it an easy way for you to calculate the cost of your nests and reduces errors in pricing. Plus if we all stick to these suggestions we will all make a reasonable profit an therefore a stabilization in the market. RE: Fair Bunny Pricing
I have to say I think this list is pretty out of date now, at least in terms of what actually sells. 2000L for a Chinchilla? If it has gem eyes, is lop, and silky or radiant, yeah. But a classic upright would be lucky to get 300L these days.
I think at the higher price ranges this guide is accurate, ie. Mini Rex Black Otter/Alexandrite/Lop/Dusky = $3500L But really these days, a classic non-rare lop with regular eyes might get 250L or so, nowhere near 800L. RE: Fair Bunny Pricing
Oh wow!
Thanks KittyKat. I agree that this did take some time to get together and it surely gives me a better idea of how pricing works. Even if there have been changes, this is more than what I have found as I searched as well. |

RE: Fair Bunny Pricing
I've not seen many HL whites being sold for above 1k lately.. picked up a lop radiant hl white myself only two day ago from one breeder who marked it down from 3500 down to 400 just to shift it :/ it can be saddening but it hapens and market is way too unstable. Peopl selling at rock bottom prices because the "norm" prices wouldnt make a splash with how things are right now.
I breed Holland Lop Whites mostly lop/gem combis and i've not been able to sell them for anything more then 350 lately... so those guides from the buy/sell group are WAY outdated.. maybe 2-3 month back you might have fetched those prices... but with how broken the market is... theres no way you'd get them now :/ |

RE: Fair Bunny Pricing
Yeah, exactly. This guide gives an idea of what kind of furs are more desirable, but the actual figures give a hugely misleading idea of what price people can expect to get.
I'm surprised HL White gem lops are going as low as 350, would have expected at last 3500L... but maybe if they're not radiant or silky even they don't get that anymore. With many if not most of the prices on that list, the bunny would have to be lop, gem, and perhaps radiant to get those figures now. I don't say this to criticize, just to warn new sellers that they really won't get those prices these days. RE: Fair Bunny Pricing
Mhm... with how ive seen market lately id probably change all prices to somethin like below.
Not saying do it - its sad to say most of these bunnys below are commonly sold for these prices because the market is so *phunked* up right now ![]() Dutch Amber 100 Dutch Black/White 100 Dutch Blue 100 Dutch Chocolate 100 Dutch Cinnamon 100 Dutch Tortoiseshell 100 English Spot Black 100 English Spot Blue 100 English Spot Chocolate 100 English Spot Lilac 500 English Spot Opal 500 English Spot Tortoiseshell 100 Harlequin Black/Orange 100 Harlequin Black Magpie 100 Harlequin Blue/Orange 100 Harlequin Chocolate Magpie 100 Harlequin Chocolate/Orange 100 Harlequin Fawn Magpie 100 Havana Black 500 Havana Broken Black 100 Havana Broken Blue 100 Havana Broken Chocolate 100 Havana Chocolate 100 Havana Lilac 100 Holland Black/White 100 Holland Chocolate 200 Holland Fawn 300 Holland Fawn/White 300 Holland Opal 400 Holland White 350 ![]() Mini Rex Black Otter 200 Mini Rex Blue Otter 150 Mini Rex Castor 5000 Mini Rex Chinchilla 350 Mini Rex Chocolate 100 Mini Rex Lynx 150 Mini Rex Red 100 |

RE: Fair Bunny Pricing
Alas, this seems a lot more accurate! Though personally I'm not finding Holland Opals go for more than the Fawn/Whites and Whites.
If I were to give some general advice to new breeders right now, it'd be pick your favourite furs, and try to breed them lop and gem. Plus, keep records and provide pedigrees. But it's pretty much impossible for anyone to provide an accurate price guide these days because the market changes so much, and sometimes it's purely a matter of luck in having the exact bunny someone happens to be searching for. RE: Fair Bunny Pricing
This is my approach - for what it is worth:
You want a way to judge prices? Prowl the markets, daily. Note a few shops in each market and make note of what they have, and at what price. Then see how long it takes to sell - or IF it sells. That's the only way to get a real feel for the markets. Guides are useless, and recently, out of date before they are even put into circulation. I'll add that *some* guides are made up in an attempt to dictate pricing to others - to the point of people being threatened with expulsion from a market if they deviated by more than a certain amount. If you're looking to buy, shop around. Take time, don't rush. When you find a store that has reasonable prices across the board, make a LM for the future. But even so, next time you're shopping, explore again. Things change fast. If you're selling, set your price based on the average, but be willing to drop if it doesn't sell in a reasonable period of time. And right now, from my observations, the average for a Castor is 3K (base), foxes are, hum, 10K maybe, Hotots perhaps a bit more, and Cremes perhaps 20K, tho that seems to be falling fast now. Again, that is based on what I see in the several markets I check, and taking into account how long things sit unsold, etc. I have seen MUCH higher prices, as well as lower. YMMV |
